From austenitic to ferritic – the right stainless steel for your application
The classic among stainless steels. V2A (material no. 1.4301) is the most widely used austenitic stainless steel in the world. It offers excellent corrosion resistance to water, steam and mild chemicals and is the first choice for stamped parts in the food industry and architecture.
V4A is the acid-resistant variant. Thanks to the addition of molybdenum, this stainless steel also withstands chloride-containing media, salt solutions and aggressive chemicals. Indispensable in the chemical industry, pharmaceuticals and outdoor applications with salt exposure.
Ferritic stainless steels are the economical alternative to the austenitic grades. They are magnetic, more attractively priced and still offer good corrosion resistance. Ideal for applications where the highest acid resistance is not required.
